Unsecured freight is not only a cause of damage, but is a major safety concern for both rail and over-the-road carriers. Allegheny Industrial Associates works closely with the many regulatory agencies and trade associations to ensure our products are fully tested and certified to meet the most rigorous requirements.

Railroad loading and securement methods, for both intermodal and boxcar loads, are evaluated and approved by the Damage Prevention & Loading Services group of Railinc, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Association of American Railroads (AAR). Allegheny's extensive rail service experience saves both time and money finding the right solution fast. In fact, Allegheny has obtained more AAR load securement approvals than anyone else!

For more information on railroad loading services, visit Railinc at www.railinc.com.

In the U.S., highway safety is the responsibility of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). In Canada their counterpart is the Canadian Council of Motor Transport Administrators (CCMTA). Allegheny works closely with these agencies to insure our customers are informed about the most current shipping regulations.

AIA has been working cooperatively with these agencies for over 5 years during the development of the proposed "North American Cargo Securement Standard." This is a performance based cargo securement standard, which if adopted, would effect all freight shipments moving over-the-road in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Development of a North American Standard for Protection Against Shifting and Falling Cargo; Final Rule. Effective December 26, 2002.
